Yes, the seller was a great fellow and his mother was very nice, too. He's a marine mechanic and into high speed boat racing and runs a hopped up 90hp Yamaha at speeds close to 100mph.

And thanks to all of you other great fellows out there for not messing with the deal as I was driving to pick up the boat. The worst was on my mind, of course. Also considered it may be a fraud and I'd end up driving 4 hours and meeting no one.

Thanks too for all of the kind comments on my new most favorite ship!

If anyone has photos of a Flash I'd be delighted if you share them with us in this thread.

As the photos show my Flash is missing all seating and it's steering console. I am looking for ideas on seating that can be slid forward and aft to achieve optimum weight balance at high running speeds. Ideally it could be adjusted while running at medium speed. Crazy idea maybe but on a ship this light, 120lbs., the drivers body weight is a major consideration. Maybe I've read too much science fiction over the years but I imagine a seating arrangement that could be moved forward or aft using foot petals, one for each direction. Automotive type seat sliding would be nice. I do plan of sitting Vs. standing on my knees. Ideas welcome.

I had contacted the seller on Saturday shortly after it was posted and before I had been informed that another member was pursuing it. I agreed to back off, a deal was in the works. Seller just contacted me to let me know that it had been sold, class act for sure. Here was his direct quote...."RE: Thank's for the intrest in the boat. The first guy to look bought it. I think I must have been too cheap.Email BLOWING UP! sorry."

I can only imagine how his mail box looks :hand:

Like I said earlier, CONGRATES DAN! I am glad to see it in such good hands. Very special boat for sure.

It has obviously had a center deck and front and rear seats, Maybe only thin plywood front seat bottom and back to suit the rules.

I recall from the old board that someone was selling one or bought a flash that was almost a perfect time capsule. There was lots of pictures taken. They you used to show up in a Google search, but no longer. Perhaps someone here saved the photos in their virtual keeper folder?

Awesome find! If my memory is correct the seat tops were wood and the center deck was just a deck ala Alumacraft style and did not have a bulkhead that made up a backrest for the forward cockpit. It also had bracing down to the keel keel like the firefly and flyer.

If you zoom in, it looks like you can see where the center dash/front seat back was removed.

Awesome score!

The nose on the Flash looks to be unlike any other FC, I don't think it is missing a casting. Look at the Catalog, there is a small eyelet to secure the rope, nothing else.

Wow Dan,
You stole that boat and I bet your jaw muscles are sore from grinning all the way home. :)
Are there any signs of seat back rivets? To race in Class A or B like the catalog suggests, it had to be dual cockpit.

In the catalog pix, it seems the steering wheel is mounted in the center across the beam. Maybe an small A frame console of sorts mounted amidships just enough structure to support the steering drum.

In the 1 pix you posted, there seems to be a few matching sets of rivet holes in the center 2 ribs....

Awesome score, glad it worked out.

Great looking boat
