Outboards can be as addicting as these old boats...

I am always looking for a great deal on an old outboard motor. It is a satisfying feeling to bring one back from the dead.

Thanks Neil - the summer was a washout for me anyways - too much work, not enough outboards. I did pick a few bits and pieces and added to the collection. Best was a 1963 Crestliner Arabian that I found a matching '63 'rude 40 Selectric shift - with working lower end electric shift! Not splashed yet but will be sweet next summer. And a few fifties outboards, including a nice 18. I'm an Evinrude guy - unless I see a Javelin. :)

Hey Jesse, long time, sorry i didnt get a chance to hook up this summer, was a crazy one...........Sorry the "Rude" is spoken for, a fellow member of here and the Upper Canada Clan, needs it more than i do..........it was sold to me as " a parts motor".....i havn't investigated very deep into it, but it has already seen some parts removed.........and i will have my handsfull with the 2 Johnson's...........i will pass your name along to the new owner.........

cheers
Neil

Hey Neil - that's quite a haul! Let me know what you decide to do with that 35. If you're going to part it out, i'd be interested in both port and starboard transom brackets. Although it looks pretty solid. What's making you think about parting it out?

I jut picked up a cosmetically sound '57 35 Big Twin ES last week; haven't even had a chance to check the compression but the previous owner claimed its a runner. I'm going to restore it for my Ranger. The only thing busted are the transom brackets...

By the way, I bought those same timing tools from the new fella that's making them and I'm looking forward to using them this winter too :)

These timing tools are great. I have the same sets and the coil locator ring. takes a lot of the guess work out of it.

Looks like you'll have plenty to keep you busy through the winter. I look forward to seeing the finished motors. You need to find a boat you can hang twin 56s off the back of then put the javelin on your feathercraft to add a little chrome bling
