The transom had so many holes in it, I figured that's how many bolts I should use to attach the wood. Including the two huge ones I put the carriage bolts though.

Should I shorten up and counter sink from both sides in the clamping area, just to be safe?

When I got her, there was no wood on the outside at all, an extra sheet of aluminum had been riveted on with steel rivets.

Yeah, I'm concerned about the interior bolts. I've done a bit of measuring and I think I'm ok with clamping, but I have to confess.... what about grounding to the hull....? Guess I beeter read up.

The wood was a piece of quartersawn white oak I found at a local reuse center. Dark stain and then varnished. I've always had a weakness for quartersawn lumber.

lookin great.........ya done well........crazy grain on your transom, what did you get...is that stained white oak......
just noticed your bolting on the rear transom board, make sure the heads are deep enough not to interfer with your motor clamping, or touch to ground out the hull .........

You said it Jabe! I found myself thinking about making a bomber seat. Lots of Rivets.

I'm about done riveting on her a few more holes above the waterline to fill and that will be it. The sad part is now that I'm nearly done I kinda want yo go back and drill out a bunch of early ones!

Transom wood back in. Re-enforcing plate riveted in behind the steering wheel hub. The dash was cracked under the hub, and the previous owner had a steel plate back there!
Moving on to steering gear.

Still lots of clean up on the outside of the hull. It has been etched with chicken shit, it was in a barn for 30 years. Not sure how that is going to work out....

Santa Brought me a 3x Rivet gun. Time to start putting things back together.

Seats and second seat top edge repair first. Then on to filling the many holes that had been drilled in to the transom to mount a reinforcing place.
